On March 17, 2017 the Detailed Site Plan for the residential component of Bowie Marketplace was accepted by The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission for processing. The plan includes 225 multi-family apartment units in the open area behind the existing retail center. On January 3rd, City Council reviewed the Detailed Site Plan and recommended approval of a multifamily development in three stories for the portion of the building facing existing single-family detached homes on Scarlett Lane and four stories for the remaining building, not to exceed 225 dwelling units, of which 20% are age-restricted units. The City Council’s public review process for residential units at Bowie Marketplace, called for by the recorded Development Agreement, concluded with the January 3rd action. The Council’s position will be communicated to the Prince George’s County Planning Board, which is expected to review the case in the next few months.
